When I decided to get my bathrooms done, I was challenged with several Qs -
- Can I change the design and add nore convenience without having to get major hit on budget ?
- How can I imagine how I wanted it to be before demolishing everything?
- what would be the vanity look like?
- What would be best for the floor - Ceramic tiles, marble, Vinyl designs (not a great advantage), or even porcelean?
- Once I decide on the floor color, can I have the same color on the sides of bath tub?
- Now, once the floor and the bath tub inside is decided, What is the best paint color that matches the floor?
- What about the vanbity? How can I match the vanity with the floow color?
I started with the vanity as thats the piece that everyone spends more time in front of a mirror and also I always wanted something thats adds style,
I bought a beautiful Mahogany sink vanity made from a bombe chest. It Included a granite top and removable undermount porcelain bowl. Holes were cut in the tan brown granite top (standard 8" spread) to add the faucets I liked. This added style to my bathrooms. I also bought the matching mirror set for this expensive vanity that added grandeur.
I now had to pick the floor type - Marble or tiles or ceramic or precelean or vinyl floor. I picked very light pink ceramic floor as I liked the texture as this brought the mahogany vanity stand out. The tiles were on sale in Homedepot but beware! - HD is very rude to customers especially the one in cupertino. I had to drive around to San Jose, Menlo park and finally to Milpitas HD to find the right ceramic that I had in mind and also the one that was on sale.
I will write the next challenges in the next blog
